Super Cyclone Amphan made landfall on the 20th of May, 2020; Wednesday in West Bengal. The cyclone had devasting effects in West Bengal leading to floods, trees being uprooted, electricity and telephone lines brought down and houses damaged. Cyclone had especially, badly affected South and North 24 Parganas, with 85 % People in these two districts being in very vulnerable situation. Kolkata Sanved works in both these districts, implementing the psycho-social rehabilitation and wellbeing programme through Dance Movement Therapy. After Assessing the need Kolkata Sanved decided to provide support both the district with emergency Response and psycho-social support. Remembering the fact that Kolkata Sanved is not a disaster management organisation, but seeing the damage of people’s lives we are joining our hands with our partner who work there in this crisis moment within our limitation.
In both the district Kolkata Sanved collaborating with 3 NGOs In North 24 pargana with Dearah Association for Social and Humanitarian Action (ASHA) at Minakhan, Basirhat and Hasnabad; South 24 pargana with Sundarban Social Development Center(SSDC) at Mandirbazar and Patharpratima block, With Bandsra Birangana Seva Samity (BBSS) at Canning, Basanti, Kultali.
