‘An Approach to Dance Movement Therapy (DMT)
Delighted to have an article co-authored by two of our members, (Founder Director, Dr. Sohini Chakraborty, and Project Coordinator, Rhea Kaikobad) published in ReFrame, the Mariwala Health Initiative Journal (Issue 3).  Titled An Approach to Dance Movement Therapy (DMT),  the article describes Kolkata Sanved’s Sampoornata approach to DMT, and explains the way in which this creative, holistic, body-based process moves beyond the clinical context. Embedded in a community-focused and rights-based perspective, Sampoornata gives participants a safe space to break free of the restrictions which patriarchal norms impose on the body. It also moves beyond the power hierarchy of expert and patient by centering the lived experience of participants during the sessions, and providing the option for individuals from marginalised communities to train as DMT practitioners and change-makers.
