Impact Report 2014

Dance has existed throughout human history; it is an innate and aesthetic human action. In primitive and tribal societies, dance was used to honor deities, celebrate the harvest, announce birth and marriage, grieve the dead and seek answers to various dilemmas. In the modern world, dance is a complex field, encompassing everything from classical disciplines and contemporary variations to social experiences like flash mobs. It is widely recognized that those who take part in group movement experience something profound. Within the field of Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), movers experience an increased connection with the self and may experience profound insights and feelings of healing and release.
