The impact of the second wave of COVID-19 on India has been grave. During this extremely difficult and challenging time, Kolkata Sanved reached out to 2 states (West Bengal and Maharashtra) in order to provide COVID 19 Emergency Response Support. Due to the impact of COVID and the partial lockdown, many families are not able to leave their houses to earn their livelihood: therefore, they lack access to nutrition and hygiene materials.
For nutrition and hygiene kits a total of 250 families (with average of 5 members each) will be reached through this intervention. The focus will be on selecting families who have been affected by COVID, either directly, through one or more family members contracting COVID, or indirectly, due to job loss.
Psycho-social support will be given different child care institutions run by Govt. and NGOs, Vulnerable children, youth and women at community centres, front line workers and caregivers.
After understanding the situation Kolkata Sanved has come up with a plan for COVID second wave response.
