COVID-19 Second Wave Emergency Response

May 18, 2021

When the second wave of COVID-19 hit India, Kolkata Sanved reached out to a total of 250 families in 2 states (West Bengal and Maharashtra) to provide emergency response support to them. The families comprised those whose members had contracted Covid or those who had lost their means of livelihood due to the lockdown.  Dry rations and hygiene kits were distributed to the familes along with a leaflet on relevant information, giving the guidelines of appropriate behaviour for the maintenance of health, hygiene and safety. The distribution was conducted in association with various grass roots level NGOs in both states.

Apart from this, psychosocial support was also given by Kolkata Sanved to children at different child care institutions run by the government and by NGOs. The sessions were conducted online, with the children and their care-givers.
